Find an Attorney

The lawyer searcher provides a way to find legal help by providing credible, transparent results based on your needs. You can browse lawyers based on their location and legal issue, read reviews and client ratings, and select a lawyer to meet with. You can also narrow your results by lawyers accepting clients, offering free initial consultations, or who speak languages other than English.

Lawyer Referral Services

There are many sources of referrals to attorneys, including bar associations and professional groups for lawyers. Some nonprofit organizations offer referrals as well. You can also use the Legal Resource Finder to find a list of sources based on your legal issue, income, and location.

Look Up an Attorney

You can search the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers for information about attorneys admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, including their license status and disciplinary history. The information includes the name, address, city and county, telephone number, and the license number. You can also use the site to see if any decisions have been made against an attorney in “Public Discipline” cases.
If you are seeking information about a large group of attorneys, submit a public data request through the Office of Judicial Administration (OJA). Please review the OJA’s Public Data Request Procedures before submitting your request.
